We respect your privacy
We take protecting your personal information seriously. We will never sell or swap your details with another organisation. We aim to provide you with a great experience of Practical Action and to communicate with every supporter in the best way possible. To do this, we may analyse your data and obtain further information about interests, preferences and level of potential donations using publicly available sources. We sometimes ask carefully selected companies to do this for us.
You can find out more about how we collect and use your personal information by reading our privacy notice at www.practicalaction.org/privacy. Translate
Can you speak more than one language? Would you like to put your skills to good use? You can support Practical Action’s efforts to provide information to as many people as possible by partnering with us in our translation programme.
We are always looking to develop technical information in as many languages as possible, and are especially interested in the languages of the countries in which Practical Action works. Currently the majority of our material has been produced in English and Spanish; we also have documents in French, Arabic, Bengali, Nepali, Sinhala, Tamil, Kiswahili, Shona, Ndebele, Portuguese and Quechua. For knowledge to be shared widely and implemented into action, we are looking to get this material translated into more languages, especially those being used across Africa and Asia.
This is where your skills can be put into practice. If you have language skills and have the time to translate a document or even a part of a document, you can help. The work is on a voluntary basis.
If you would like to translate any of the material on Practical Action’s website then please contact us at infoserv@practicalaction.org.uk. We are constantly looking for people with any of the above languages.
Knowledge Point
Knowledge Point is an innovative question and answer forum dedicated to providing technical guidance to development and humanitarian practitioners. It brings together organisations and individuals to provide a wide ranging pool of expertise and experience in technological and development subjects.
Knowledge Point started in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector, with organisations such as WaterAid, REDR (people and skills for disaster relief), IRC (International Rescue Committee) and EngineersAid working alongside Practical Action to bring together the knowledge of their staff and the knowledge of others who are interested in improving their own project work or sharing some of their own experiences. It has now expanded to encapsulate many other humanitarian sectors such as energy, finance and agriculture, with lively and engaging discussions taking place.
You can register on the Knowledge Point network either as an individual or as an organisational group. There, you can ask or answer questions, enter discussions, share, collaborate and meet like-minded people working on this aspect of poverty reduction. We look forward to your engagement!
